Nuclear Winter

Another season

Another apocalypse

You abandon your toys

Left for dead in winter wilds

No words, no thoughts

You slept through the rain

And lost your way

In the endless night

All is tangled, rotting, waste

You could not watch while we decay

Close the shutters on our weeping bones

When you wake you might just glance

To peer at the damage

Check the perimeter remains intact

And see the barbs that cut the mist

Naked but for diamonds

Holding each bead bright

With delicate poise

We hold them here

And won’t let them fall

When the sun has gone

We will shine for you

When the sky is grey

We will still dance

For you.
